Design Brief

The AppMod project’s current apps’ architecture are not flexible nor scalable. The applications’ task efficacy rate is very poor in terms of error rate and time spent. The current apps are in legacy system and they want to move to cloud with modern architecture and user friendly applications. Listed below is the scope of the design effort.

• Understand stakeholders and tailor solutions based on user and business needs.

• Design new experiences ensuring the best usability, scalability and security.

• Evaluate the current apps and address the pressing usability gaps on the website.

• Develop functional and configurable components that could be leveraged across multiple applications.

• Create Design Language System (DLS) with detailed specifications.

• Develop UI component library for projects across Sempra Energy

My Role

Led an 8-member UX/UI team responsible for designing experiences for 44 applications that are used to carry out Sempra’s daily operations. Our collaborative efforts included conducting Design Thinking workshops, formulating strategic approaches, designing applications, and creating a component library utilizing React.JS. We also established a design system and component library, which we then handed over to the development teams to ensure consistency across all applications. Other duties include driving design direction, tracking issues, escalations and providing assistance with technical components.

Artifacts that were delivered include system diagrams, persona & user journey mapping, information architecture, flowcharts, task flow diagrams, micro interaction assets, design system, App UI Designs, graphic assets, developed UI Library.
